Teen Wolf (1985): Sometimes Being a Werewolf Is Awesome

Most werewolf movies treat lycanthropy like a curse.

Teen Wolf (1985) asks a different question:

What if becoming a werewolf made you incredibly popular?

Michael J. Fox stars as Scott Howard, an ordinary teenager who discovers that his family has a rather unusual genetic trait.

Suddenly being hairy isn't ruining his life.

It's improving it.

Basketball gets easier. People notice him. Being the Wolf becomes his entire identity.

Underneath the comedy is actually a classic coming-of-age idea about figuring out whether people like you—or the person you've become for them.

But we're also watching Michael J. Fox play basketball as a werewolf.

So let's not overthink this.
