Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943): The Original Monster Crossover
Long before cinematic universes became Hollywood's favorite obsession, Universal realized something important:
Why have one monster when you can have TWO?
Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943) brings Larry Talbot back and eventually puts the Wolf Man face-to-face with Frankenstein's monster.
It's essentially an early superhero-style crossover—except everybody is miserable, cursed or undead.
The movie also demonstrates how quickly Universal's monsters were becoming interconnected characters rather than creatures confined to individual movies.
Audiences weren't simply coming to see another werewolf story anymore.
They were coming to see the Wolf Man.
That distinction helped turn these monsters into pop-culture icons.
For Night 3 of 30 Nights of Werewolves, we're watching two horror legends collide.
