Wolfen (1981): Is Wolfen Actually a Werewolf Movie?

We knew this argument was coming.

Does Wolfen count as a werewolf movie?

Released during the incredible werewolf year of 1981, Wolfen follows a New York detective investigating a series of brutal killings that don't appear to have been committed by anything human.

The movie doesn't follow the traditional Larry Talbot rules.

That's exactly why it's interesting.

A month celebrating werewolf cinema should occasionally ask what actually qualifies as a werewolf movie.

Transformation?

Supernatural wolves?

Human-animal connection?

Something hunting people under the moon?

Johnny Spoiler is allowing Wolfen into the club.

Your ruling may differ.
