Office Christmas Party (2016) Review: Holiday Chaos, Bad Bosses And Feel-Good Movies | Johnny Spoiler

Office Christmas Party (2016): Christmas Chaos, Bad Decisions & Movies That Make You Feel Better

The holidays are supposed to be magical. But sometimes life kicks your ass, the bills pile up, and spreading Christmas cheer feels like another unpaid job.

So what do you do when you're an entertainer who's running dangerously low on reasons to smile?

You remember the golden rule: THE SHOW MUST GO ON.

Johnny Spoiler kicks off STOCKING STUFFERS, a holiday movie series dedicated to feel-good films, ridiculous comedies, overlooked gems, and cinematic comfort food for anyone who's had a rough year.

And we're starting with OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY (2016), an outrageous R-rated comedy starring Jason Bateman, Jennifer Aniston, T.J. Miller, Olivia Munn, Kate McKinnon, and Jillian Bell.

When a ruthless CEO threatens to shut down her brother's struggling Chicago office, the employees hatch a brilliant plan: throw the most irresponsible Christmas party in corporate history and convince a wealthy client to save their jobs.

Because nothing says financial stability like drunk coworkers, hired escorts, workplace destruction, and Jesus riding a horse through a burning office.

What could possibly go wrong?

Why Johnny Spoiler Loves Office Christmas Party

This isn't just another excuse to watch a bunch of comedians behaving like idiots.

Okay, it's mostly that.

But Office Christmas Party has something a lot of outrageous comedies forget: structure.

The insanity escalates naturally, the jokes build on one another, and the ensemble cast commits completely to the ridiculousness.

Jason Bateman is the exhausted straight man. Jennifer Aniston is the corporate villain with serious sibling issues. T.J. Miller is the lovable idiot trying to save his employees. Kate McKinnon is an HR nightmare.

And Jillian Bell?

She's an absolute comedic menace as an unhinged escort handler who steals practically every scene she's in.

Johnny breaks down the movie's funniest moments, including the Fast and the Furious-inspired bridge-jumping debate, the painfully funny Pretty Woman reference, and one of the greatest heavy-metal Jesus-on-horseback sequences in Christmas movie history.

It's loud, ridiculous, surprisingly heartfelt, and one of Johnny's annual holiday rewatches.

VERDICT: BINGE NOW.

Home Video Headlines

Before the Christmas chaos begins, Johnny checks out what's happening in movies and entertainment.

Jean-Claude Van Damme returns to his martial arts roots in KATANA, a Japan-set yakuza action thriller.

Paul Bettany joins Steven Yeun in PAGANS, Netflix's supernatural drama about a grieving family and a daughter hiding something sinister.

And RED SNOW (2026) introduces a beer-bellied vampire wearing a Santa suit who terrorizes a dysfunctional family on Christmas Eve.

Forget Twilight. This vampire looks like he got fired from the mall.

Johnny Spoiler's Staff Pick: The Only Living Pickpocket in New York (2026)

John Turturro stars as an aging pickpocket whose biggest enemy isn't the police or organized crime.

It's technology.

He's a slick, subtle, old-school thief who becomes hilariously disappointed when the people he robs don't have any money.

Imagine getting pickpocketed and having the criminal judge you for being broke.

But underneath the dark humor and jazzy soundtrack is a surprisingly moving story about a man caring for his incapacitated wife while the modern world leaves him behind.

When he steals the wrong USB drive, this analog criminal finds himself in a dangerous digital nightmare.

Johnny praises the film's extraordinary New York cinematography, bittersweet humor, and an Oscar-worthy performance from Turturro.

There's even an Almond Joy moment that might break your heart.

This is one of those overlooked movies that deserves a much bigger audience.

STAFF PICK VERDICT: BINGE NOW.

Fan Service: Smiley773 and the Ghost of Christmas Complaints

Not everybody is feeling the holiday spirit.

Johnny has a few words for an angry internet commenter, because apparently even Christmas can't stop people from being miserable online.

Sometimes the greatest gift you can give yourself is the block button.

Stocking Stuffers: A Holiday Survival Guide Through Movies

This month isn't just about Christmas movies.

It's about finding something worth laughing at when life isn't particularly funny.

Sometimes you need a great drama. Sometimes you need a nostalgic favorite. And sometimes you need Jason Bateman looking exhausted while a corporate Christmas party burns to the ground.

Whatever gets you through the holidays.

You stumbled into some kind of show.
