Wolf (1994): Jack Nicholson Becomes a Werewolf

Imagine walking into a studio meeting with this pitch:

Jack Nicholson becomes a werewolf.

Michelle Pfeiffer is the romantic lead.

James Spader is the rival.

Mike Nichols directs.

That's Wolf (1994).

Rather than treating lycanthropy entirely as a curse, Wolf plays with the idea that becoming more animalistic might restore something its middle-aged protagonist has lost.

Confidence.

Strength.

Aggression.

Power.

Of course, this is still a werewolf movie.

Things eventually get complicated.

Night 21 gives us the prestige Hollywood version of the genre.
